s1 southwestern rain
home
Southwestern Rain, derives inspiration from a famed biodiversity hotspot - the Western Ghats, or Sahyadri mountain range in India, that traverses across the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
It is not just a monsoon getaway, it is also a rainmaker, accounting for a quarter of the rainfall in South India. Said another way, shrinking forest cover here equals hotter, drier weather. The prints are inspired by a diverse sample of birds from this ecosystem, some like the White-Cheeked Barbet used to be considered endemic to the habitat but have found other homes now, some are still only found in the Western Ghats, like the ones listed below.
